GEEN PASEN ZONDER PASSIE!

Het was dirigent Wilhelm Mengelberg (1871-1951) die in 1899 de traditie opstartte om op Palmzondag de Matthäus-Passion van Johann Sebastian Bachs (1685-1750) uit te voeren met het nog jonge Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest. Dat jaarlijkse ritueel leidde hijzelf bijna een halve eeuw waardoor zijn status als dirigent bijna religieuze proporties aannam. Sinds 2009 wordt er afgewisseld en is één van beide Bachpassies of moderne passiemuziek de opmaat naar Pasen.

Na precies 10 jaar afwezigheid zijn Philippe Herreweghe en Collegium Vocale Gent opnieuw present in Amsterdam om samen met één van ’s werelds absolute toporkesten de traditie verder te zetten. Solisten zijn onder andere de jonge Duitse tenor Maximilian Schmitt (evangelist) en de bas Thomas Bauer (Christus)

Afgezien van de twee uitvoeringen in het schitterende Concertgebouw zijn alle musici ook live te gast in het razend populaire praatprogramma De wereld draait door , nu donderdag 10 april. Bovendien wordt het concert op Palmzondag live uitgezonden door de Nederlandse klassieke zender Radio 4.

Collegium Vocale Gent* is organising regularly auditions for excellent choral singers and young soloists born after after 1975, with an interest in all voice types, with a high grade of musicality, flexibility and experience in ensemble singing. Our main focus is the Romantic repertoire, but singers interested in our polyphony and Baroque projects are also welcome.
The auditions will be judged by Dominique Verkinderen and Matthias Lutze.

UPCOMMING AUDITIONS:

Madrid [Spain]: 19th-20th May 2014 [venue to be decided]
Lisbon [Portugal]: 21st-22nd May 2014 [venue to be decided]

APPLICATIONS FOR AUDITIONS
Applicants are requested to send the following information and material to dominique@collegiumvocale.com BEFORE 2nd MAY 2014.

1. Curriculum Vitae
2. A personal information form, including your name, voice-type, address, telephone/mobile number, e-mail, date & place of birth & nationality
3. A* picture* of yourself
4. Details of the complete programme that you intend to sing
5. [Optional] A recording with a short aria or Lied as mp3 file (max. 5MB) or a link to your YouTube page.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

You will be required to prepare:
1. An aria of your choice by J.S.Bach or G.F.Handel (at your chosen pitch of A=440 or 415 Hz)
2. A Lied of your choice from the Romantic German repertoire (countertenors can sing a song by Dowland or Purcell for example).
3. For choir and ensemble singers – the motet ‘Singet dem Herrn’ BWV 225 by J.S.Bach (only the final part, from bar 256). Soloists should sing another aria of their own choice.
Please note: Piano A = 440. An accompanist will be provided.

Readable and well organised scores must be sent to the accompanist
