Collegium Vocale Gent

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
PHILIPPE HERREWEGHE

Due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in Europe, all concerts as part of the St. John Passion and St. Matthew Passion tour of Collegium Vocale Gent are unfortunately cancelled.

Matthauspassion BWV 244

Most concert halls take the Corona virus very serious and take strict precautions. As a result, all public events are cancelled until Easter.

Nevertheless we want to present you hereby online the Matthauspassion, recorded by WDR at the Köllner Philharmonie.

It is the uttermost wish of Philippe Herreweghe, the soloists, the choir and the orchestra of Collegium Vocale Gent to give you the pportunity to enjoy Bach’s music.
Attending the concert hall performances will no longer be possible, but this way we want to bring Bach’s Passion music to you at home.

The unexpected and short term cancellation of 6 concerts of St.John’s Passion and 14 concerts of Matthew Passion (involving 90 singers and instrumentalists) due to “force majeure” means a great loss of income for all musicians. We dare assume that you care for Collegium Vocale Gent and its musicians, and therefore would like to give you the opportunity to support us.

This can be done by means of a financial contribution by bank transfer to vzw Collegium Vocale, Drongenhof 42, 9000 Ghent IBAN BE 08 8939 4405 7013 – BIC VDSP BE91 stating “Passions 2020”

You can also do it directly via this link.

Collegium Vocale Gent guarantees you that all funds entering the account with this mention will go to a one-off fund that will be divided proportionally among all musicians as a fair compensation for the loss suffered and this unexpected unemployment.

After all, it is a tough job for freelance musicians to deal with this in the short term so we would be very grateful for your solidarity.
