Franz SCHUBERT (1797-1828):
Songs for male choir
Deutsche Tänze, Ländler
Collegium Vocale Gent
Jan Vermeulen _pianoforte_
In RUHE, director Josse De Pauw created one of the most successful Flemish music theater productions ever, putting former SS soldiers on stage in combination with the men’s voices of Collegium Vocale Gent singing Schubert lieder. Since this production began in 2007, it’s been seen over a hundred times in Europe, Singapore, and Sydney. Now, for the very last series of performances, RUHE is returning to Flanders. In addition, you can also attend a concertante performance of Schubert’s exquisitely beautiful music under the title: *Nachtmusik* in the Bijloke Music Centre. Fortepiano specialist Jan Vermeulen is the accompanist, and he’ll also be performing a number of Schubert’s unsurpassed German dances.
