The manuscripts by Petrus Alamire (ca.1470-1536) are absolute high points of the polyphonic age, renowned for both their musical content and their decorations. In two world premieres, by Italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino and Eric Sleichim, you will hear Renaissance masterpieces as well as an enigmatic doubles game for two countertenors and tubax. Sensual love lyrics will dissolve into devout worship of the Virgin Mary, voices and brass will interweave, and particles of electronically dismembered sound will disappear into the mystical space.
