After the trauma of the Second World War, Europe experienced the miracle of resurrection. Peace was in the air, people were euphoric. But Benjamin Britten knew that the past was never told… His War Requiem contains, in addition to parts of the Latin Requiem Mass, texts by war poet Wilfred Owen, who unfortunately died at the front in northern France just before the Armistice in 1918. This gigantic sound machine is a gripping indictment against the futility of all wars.
