BACH ACADEMY WROCLAW

As the Bach Academy has found its niche in its own country, more and more cities outside of Belgium are eager to be ‘bathing in Bach’ themselves, organizing concerts, lectures, workshops and master classes with Philippe Herreweghe and Collegium Vocale Gent. Budapest and Montreal are on the waiting list, and the first city to hold this event outside Belgium is the exciting Polish cultural capital of Wroclaw, which will host the WROCLAW BACH ACADEMY in February 2014.
The absolute challenge of this residency will be to exchange experiences with local audiences, musicians, and students. Its purpose, beyond simply giving concerts as a guest ensemble, is to share the know-how and experience of the Collegium Vocale Gent musicians with, or pass it on to, local musical partners. Partnerships are planned with the Lipinsky Academy of Music, the Wroclaw Philharmonic Choir and Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra. Besides master classes with Christine Busch, Dorothee Mields and Peter Kooij and a concert of instrumental works by birthday boy Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) this orchestra will also close the Academy with a performance of the _B Minor Mass_ BWV 232, also conducted by Philippe Herreweghe and with the singers of Collegium Vocale Gent.
