Singing chorales is something it’s better to do together. In St Walburga’s Church, Philippe Herreweghe is therefore conducting both his ensemble and the audience in several Lutheran classics. The common thread is Bach’s organ music, performed by Maude Gratton on the historical Cacheux organ, and an early setting of Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, BWV80 – the better-known version can be heard on Sunday. In the middle of the cantata, at the point where in Bach’s day a long sermon was given, we now hear a modern reflection on the theme of revolution, spoken by Josse De Pauw.

Note for chorale singers: the rehearsal starts at 1.45 pm.
