In Ärgre dich, o Seele, nicht (BWV 186), Bach weaves expressive recitatives, virtuosic arias, and monumental choruses into a theologically grounded dialogue between doubt and hope. Wär Gott nicht mit uns diese Zeit (BWV 14), a late chorale cantata, displays contrapuntal refinement and inner strength.
