Requiem for Josquin
Jean Richafort’s Missa pro defunctis, composed in memory of Josquin Desprez, is one of the most intimate and refined musical tributes of the Renaissance. Rooted in the tradition of the Requiem Mass, it merges austere Gregorian chant with richly nuanced polyphony, creating a sound world of contemplative beauty and quiet mourning. The work embodies the Franco-Flemish ideal of commemorative music, where personal loss and artistic homage converge. In this project, Barbora Kabátková takes on the musical direction of Collegium Vocale Gent for the first time, while continuing to perform as a singer within the ensemble.
