Auditions 2019

Collegium Vocale Gent is organising auditions for excellent choral singers and young soloists born after 1980, with an interest in all voice types, with a high grade of musicality, flexibility and experience in ensemble singing. Our main focus is the Romantic repertoire, but singers interested in our polyphony, baroque and contemporary projects are also welcome.

The audition dates & cities for autumn 2019 :

♦ 22nd-23rd-24th October: Berlin (DE): choral singers > CLOSED
Venue: Kirche am Lietzensee, Herbartstrasse 4-6,  14057 Berlin Charlottenburg

♦ 4th-5th November (10h00-18h00): Köln (DE): young soloists > CLOSED
Venue: Zamus  Zentrum für Alte Musik Köln,  Heliosstrasse 15, 50825 Köln

♦ 10th-11th-12th December: Brussels (BE): young soloists & choral singers > CLOSED
Venue: La Monnaie/ De Munt (Salle Fiocco), Leopoldstraat 23 B,  1000 Brussels

They will be judged by Dominique Verkinderen and Matthias Lutze .


Applicants are requested to send the following information and material to Dominique Verkinderen at the latest one month before the planned audition. Applications for young soloists (Köln) should reach us at the latest by 15th October.

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. A personal information form, including your name, voice-type, address, telephone/mobile number, e-mail, date & place of birth & nationality
  3. A picture of yourself
  4. Details of the complete programme you intend to sing
  5. A recording of a short aria or Lied as mp3 file (max. 5MB) or a link to your YouTube page


∇ Choral singers [Berlin / Brussels]

You will be required to prepare:

  1. An aria of your choice by J.S.Bach or G.F.Handel.
  2. A Lied of your choice from the Romantic German repertoire. Countertenors may sing a song by Dowland or Purcell.
  3. Final part of the motet ‘Singet dem Herrn’ BWV 225 by J.S.Bach (Please prepare from bar 256).

∇ Young soloists [Köln / Brussels]

You will be requiered to prepare:

  1. An aria of your choice by J.S.Bach or G.F.Handel.
  2. Aria of your choice from the Romantic repertoire. This does not apply for countertenors.
  3. A German Lied of your choice. Countertenors may sing a song by Dowland or Purcell.

Please note: Piano A = 440 but transposition to 415 is possible.

Readable and well organised scores must be sent by normal, unregistered post to the accompanist at least 3 weeks before the auditions
